Why another phaser?
There are a lot of phasers. This one is for electronic music: pads, synth buses and whole mixes. It has ten all-pass stages, a speed control you can lock to your tempo, and one knob that fades the whole effect in and out.
2. MAGNITUDE
All the way left, the effect is bypassed and you hear the clean signal. All the way right, you get the full sweep. Automate it.
3. Sidechain
A detector listens to another track and drives MAGNITUDE or the WET//DRY mix. PEAK mode follows kicks. RMS mode follows pads and buses. Your audio is never replaced.
Listen
Each clip is a plain synth pad: 3 seconds without the effect, then 9 seconds through the named factory preset. The pad is a test signal rather than a finished track.

- Ten-stage all-pass phaser with four intensity modes, from a subtle shimmer to a deep, wide sweep.
- Phase Field display: live input and output spectra, their difference, and a smoothed model of the modulation response, with IN / DIFF / OUT meters.
- MAGNITUDE performance knob: fully left the effect is bypassed in place, fully right the full modulation is engaged.
- RATE or SYNC: free-running speed on a calibrated curve, or locked to your project tempo from 8 bars down to 1/32, with dotted and triplet values.
- OFFSET rotates the sweep from -180 to +180 degrees, so it can sit ahead of or behind the beat.
- Sidechain driven movement: a PEAK or RMS detector pushes MAGNITUDE or WET//DRY, with threshold, attack, release, amount, input gain, a 140 Hz low-pass filter and a MONITOR to hear what the detector hears.
- RANDOM writes a fresh combination to audition; one undo reverts the whole batch.
- SIGNAL//IN and SIGNAL//OUT trim (-24 to +24 dB), WET//DRY mix, and clip indicators.
- Factory presets (Default, Slow Drift, Deep Sweep, Neon Pulse, Sidechain Move), your own presets, and a color palette editor.
- Fixed 1280 x 800 window. Works offline after the first activation.
Three starting points
Drifting pad
INTENSITY II, RATE mode, SPEED low, MAGNITUDE 100%, WET//DRY 100%. Automate MAGNITUDE down during the verse.
On-beat sweep
SYNC mode, division 1/1, INTENSITY III, OFFSET +10 to +20 degrees so the sweep leads the beat slightly.
Kick-pumped bus
SIDECHAIN on, target WET//DRY, PEAK, EQ on to isolate the kick, then THRESH until the LED catches the kick and RELEASE around 100 to 200 ms.

Questions
Does it run on Mac, or as AU or AAX?
Not at launch. PHASE//ZERO is a VST3 plugin for Windows 64-bit.
Which DAWs does it work in?
Any host that loads VST3 plugins, for example Ableton Live, FL Studio, Reaper, Cubase and Bitwig.
How many computers can I use it on?
Each license can be active on up to 5 computers. If you reach the limit, contact support to free one.
Do I need to be online?
Only the first time you activate. After that it works offline. The plugin checks for a newer version about once a day and never downloads or installs anything by itself.
How do updates work?
When a new version is out, the plugin shows UPDATE AVAILABLE. Download the new installer from this page and run it over your existing install. Your license, presets and settings are kept.
Is there a demo?
Not yet. If it turns out not to be for you, the refund policy has you covered.
Is it a subscription? Does it go on sale?
No subscription. The price is CAD 29.99 and it is never discounted, on Black Friday or any other day.
