Hey, I'm Zach.
Welcome to ZX Audio.
ZX Audio is my independent audio software studio, built around two things I love: making music and building things.
I'm a Canadian developer, music producer, and lifelong problem-solver. I've spent years working with software, learning how to build reliable systems, solve difficult problems, and turn ideas into working products.
Music is where I get to approach those same challenges from a different direction. I love the process of chasing a sound, experimenting with an effect, finding the right groove, and turning something I imagined into something I can actually hear. My tastes lean toward synthwave, cyberpunk, heavy bass, and electronic music with atmosphere and attitude.
ZX Audio grew out of that experience. I wanted to build the tools I actually wanted to use. Plugins with character, thoughtful controls, and a clear purpose. Not software that tries to do everything, but tools that do something well and make you want to keep creating.
And because I enjoy the engineering just as much as the creative side, I decided to build the whole thing myself.
What I'm building
ZX Audio is a growing collection of handcrafted audio plugins, custom audio development projects, and experiments in sound.
Everything starts with an idea. Sometimes it's a sound I'm trying to achieve in my own music. Sometimes it's a problem that deserves a better tool. Sometimes it's simply a concept I want to explore.
I take those ideas from early design and signal-flow experiments through C++ development, DSP, testing, and refinement.
The goal is straightforward: make audio tools that are enjoyable to use, technically considered, and worth keeping in your workflow.
This website is where I share that process, release new products, and keep in touch with the people using my work. You'll find plugins, development updates, behind-the-scenes projects, and news about what's coming next.
My approach
Sound comes first
I build tools because I want to hear what they can do. I care about character, movement, texture, and how an effect fits into a real production — not just how impressive its feature list looks.
Fewer controls. More intention.
I prefer interfaces that are approachable without limiting what you can create. Every control should have a purpose, and the software should help you get to the sound instead of getting in the way.
Engineering you can trust
My plugins are developed in C++ with JUCE, with an emphasis on thoughtful DSP, reliable implementation, and practical testing. I bring my software development and QA experience into the process because creative tools still need to work properly.
Straightforward pricing
I'm building an independent business, and I want the relationship with customers to be simple. Clear pricing, no unnecessary complications, and lifetime updates included with your purchase.
More than a plugin store
ZX Audio is also my development portfolio. I'm interested in the space where audio engineering, software, and creativity meet. That includes building my own VST plugins, exploring new DSP concepts, and working on custom audio tools for people who have an idea they want to bring to life.
If you've ever thought, "I wish there was a plugin that did this…" that's the kind of idea I want to hear about. Custom development is an opportunity to work together on something that isn't already sitting on a store shelf.
